On August 31, 2025, Packaging Corp of America acquired Greif's containerboard business for approximately $1.8 billion, financed by $300 million in cash and $1.5 billion from new loans. The acquisition includes two mills with a production capacity of around 800,000 tons and eight corrugated plants across the U.S.
